The Psychology of a Homeland
and the Aberrations Caused by Not Having One Modern social and political problems all exist because of preexisting psychological complexes operating in the minds of individuals. Address the psychology of the individual and one can successfully address social and political issues. Yet, the psychodynamics of every individual is not an island unto itself. Every individual psyche exists in a greater ocean of consciousness and is influenced by many things. One must be able to recognize the greater whole before one can address the individual parts. In this respect, we are required to understand the spiritual/psychic component of the mind as an integral part of both individual and collective psychology. We must also realize that all these components of the mind are also to connected to other elements, one important one is one’s homeland and culture. For millennia peoples around the world have fought and died to protect and defend what for them is their homeland. In order to understand the psychological/spiritual significance of real estate we must delve into aspects of reality known to many ancient indigenous peoples but almost unknown and ignored by those who lack any spiritual/psychic development. The Sage RaMBaM (Maimonides) wrote in his Mishneh Torah Law Code (Y.T.3:9) that planets themselves are actually living organisms that are conscious of themselves, the angelic order that operates physical matter and of G-d Himself. Yes, Planet Earth is a sentient conscious personality not too unlike us. Although it is a life form radically different from our own, it is still nonetheless a conscious, sentient independent life form. Ultimately the Earth is alive, thinks and feels. This fundamental knowledge has been the source of millennia of idol worship of those who worship the Earth and request from her directly her bounty. This type of worship was well known in Biblical days (and prohibited by Torah). This was the underlying concepts of planting the Ashera trees, which represented the power of growth in “Mother” Earth. The Earth has always been metaphorically referred to as our “mother,” even as G-d has been referred to as our Heavenly “Father.” Indeed, even in the story of the creation of Adam some have seen reference to this concept. When the Torah says, “let Us create Man,” the Us in question has been interpreted by some as G-d speaking to the Earth. G-d would form Man from the dust of the Earth and then breathe into Him the Living Soul from Heaven. The Human species is thus a composite entity comprised of two distinct parts, physical and spiritual. Yet, unless the two work together in harmony, neither can exist independently. The human species is thus integrally bound to the Earth from which comes forth our flesh, and to where our flesh shall return. Therefore all the time that we sojourn on Earth we are integrally bound to the land. We each share a spark of the soul of the Earth. This spark is our life-force. In Hebrew, we call it Nefesh. Torah states that it resides within our blood.
There is an interesting point made by the psychologist Carl Jung that is
of relevance here. His entire body of psychological/psychiatric
work is build upon the premise that all humanity at our deepest
psychological level are all somehow connected. Essentially we are
all parts of a greater whole. He refers to this as the Collective
Unconscious, or in his later writings as the Objective Psyche.

Pray for the peace of Israel, world Jewry, the United States and us
all. The speed of time is not a constant. Time flows at different speeds depending upon one’s point of reference. When Torah spoke of the world being created in six days, that period of time was measured by the Divine standard. We know today that by human standards, creation occurred billions of years ago. One does not contradict the other. Each speaks within the context of its own relativity. Mind you, we did not need modern science to tell us the age of the universe. Over 800 years ago the great Torah sage, Rabbi Yitzhak of Akko wrote about this in detail. The details of this are merely an academic curiosity. What is important is the actual psychological nature of the relative movement of time. The speed of a thing is perceived relatively by those perceiving. For some a thing moves fast, for others a thing moves slowly. The conscious human mind is pretty much wired to focus on a specific thing for only a short amount of time. After a specific amount of time passes with no satisfactory stimulation from an external source, the focus of the conscious mind passes on to something else from which it hopes to extract some form of stimulation. This is a basic statement of both psychology and neurology. The human brain likes to stay entertained; it hates to be bored. Knowing this little piece of information makes it easier for those who wish to manipulate and direct human focus and attention. We all think that we perceive things the same; this is definitely not true. One of the ways to gain power over the cause of an adversary is simply to wait to fight them. Causes, whether they are political, social or personal all share one thing in common; they are all charged by emotion. Yet, to maintain an emotional charge for something one must keep it in focus. Yet, when the passion of the moment or the time passes, interest in that specific cause also wanes and passes. All the opposition then has to do is a simple mop up operation to remove whatever small and insignificant remainder of the adversary remains. Simply being patient and allowing the other side to run out of steam is often how the weak chose to confront and defeat the mighty. For those who have patience, time is not moving too slow. They can wait years or even decades for the emotional fervor of their opposition to wane and eventually die. In most cases, waits are never that long. Usually emotional commitments to most causes are short lived. While those so committed will continue to proclaim their beliefs in a thing, still after a short time their belief system is even subject to pursuation. Once the emotional charge has burned itself out of a cause then all remaining intellectual attachment to that cause has no legs to stand on and quickly becomes subject to rationalization and change. In the end, those with knowledge and patience wait out their opposition to succumb to the most fundamental of human frailties, the psychological need for continuing stimulation. Deny the opposition conflict to further arouse their emotions and you strip from them the power to continue the fight. Throughout history this maneuver has been used by numerous warlords and generals on the battlefield with great success. What most of us fail to realize is that this same ancient military technique has been adopted by political organizations today and is even used by many of the world’s police departments and armies when having to face types of civil unrest too large to just destroy using violent force. All they have to do is contain the problem. First they limit its exposure in the media; this is done so as to not allow any further emotional eruptions. The more people who see the beaten and oppressed minority the more people tend to take their side in sympathy. |
Some Words Of Wisdom For All To Contemplate
DEFEND YOURSELVES !!
Guard your minds!
You have no idea of the level of assault you
face every day.
Bend like a reed in the wind, yet, stand strong as a wall of eternal stones
before the onslaught of fiery arrows.
Winds can crack even the mightiest of trees.
Fiery arrows cannot hurt walls of stone.
There is a time to be a tree and a time to be a wall.
DEFEND YOURSELVES !! Guard your minds!
Learn the times, learn how one must act for
the moment, for the place.
There is a time and a purpose for all things under Heaven.
We are in the middle of the change of times,
learn when to be a tree and when to be a wall,
for the fire will burn wood, and the wind will shatter the mightiest of walls.
Be the right thing in the right place at the right time.
DEFEND YOURSELVES !! Guard your minds!
And you just may will live to see the other
side of redemption.

“And you will be swiftly removed from upon the good land that G-d gives you.” (Deut. 11:17)
The Ba’al Shem Tov has said, that an individual
must always have a calm mind and not act impetuously,
[for when one does act in
this way, then he] “will be swiftly removed from upon the good land.”
One [must
learn to] swiftly remove impetuousness [rather than be removed because of it.
(Ref. SBST, Ekev 62).
The first of all wise sayings attributed to our Sages in Pirkei Avot is
“be
deliberating in judgment.”
In other words, we should never be quick and impetuous to make decisions
that are not well thought out, rational and logical.
Every day we are faced with decisions and every day we often make the wrong decisions simply because we rush to decide.
Sometimes the best decision is no decision, at least for the moment.
The world
WILL NOT come to an end if we wait a while before responding to a matter that is
not an immanent crises.
This advice might not be for the battlefield… but we do not always live on the
battlefield.
Decisions about business, family, expenses and everyday living
have to be made based upon the greater and wiser good and not just upon how we
feel or how things look at the moment.
Times change and so do feelings. Never make a decision that will affect the future based only on the here and now.
Pause, take a moment, and look towards tomorrow, the next day, and the day after
that.
Takes these into consideration today before you make a decision that will
affect you negatively tomorrow.
-----------------------------------------------------
Everything that we hold dear is exactly what holds us back from experiencing and acquiring true wealth.
We have been falsely educated into attributing value to things that in essence are meaningless.
Everything in this life is transitory at best.
Physical items, emotional attachments, attitudes, beliefs, ideas and
philosophies, all of these come and go like a passing wind.
Our attachment to these things creates within us a false sense of security and
we seldom let go.
We build around ourselves mighty walls of brick, feelings and ideas, thinking
that these will keep us safe from assault.
How foolish and shortsighted we are.
For every new lock that we create, there comes an even better lock pick.
For every better mouse trap we develop there comes a bigger and stronger mouse.
This is the way of nature, it is unavoidable.
We
protect our homes with all types of security systems and still they are
burglarized.
We protect our feelings with all types of emotional walls and we still end up
getting hurt.
We protect our ideas and beliefs with all types of arguments and justifications
and we still face confusion and contradiction.
We
cannot block out, we cannot find security in the insecure, nor can we find
stability in the unstable.
It is inevitable and unavoidable.
Whatever goes up must come down and whatever goes down creates an equal and
opposite reaction causing it to rise.
In this is summed up all of life and its various movements.
