REPORTING AND CREATING THE MESSAGE
Media pundits try to convince the reader or viewer they only report the message and deny they have any part in creating it when, in fact, they do both, wittingly or unwittingly. The way media selects news and opinion items and the weight they ascribe to various facets of stories they publish can sway the message. At the Israel Hasbara Committee we proudly do both. We generate many unique and original ideas, thoughts and commentaries, so as to get a very clear message out: Israel is in need of your support.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
What can Israel do to promote its image in the international community? Are there answers to this question? Are there those who are more qualified to do this or is everyone equally qualified? A country's image is the sum of the attitudes and behaviors of its people. It is conveyed mostly by the country's representatives. How should the represenatatives be chosen? If Israel is really serious about improving its international image it should start by having the most effective people to represent it. Who are they?
QUESTION OF THE DAY
President-elect Barack Obama is Commander-in-Chief of all US forces. As he has no military training or background is he now busy learning military facts in order for him to make intelligent assessments of crisis regions throughtout the world? Will he lead or be lead?
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni announced Wednesday that Israel has made a final decision to boycott the United Nations "Durban II" conference on human rights this spring, fearing it would be used once again as a forum for anti-Israeli sentiment.
The World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, to be held in Geneva in April, is a follow-up to a 2001 summit in Durban, South Africa on the same issues.
"The documents prepared for the conference indicate that it is turning once again into an anti-Israeli tribunal, singling out and delegitimizing the State of Israel," Livni told Jewish-American leaders at the UJC General Assembly in Jerusalem.
"The conference has nothing to do with fighting racism," she said. "In view of this situation, I decided that Israel will not participate and will not legitimize the Durban II conference." (Source: Haaretz)
IHC COMMENT There is nothing to be achieved by entering the lion's den.
The IHC will close down at the end of the month as previously announced due to financial constraints
