AFSI is an international membership organization dedicated to the premise that a strong Israel is essential to U.S. security and that the Jewish settlements in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Golan insure Israel's safety and ultimate survival.

"I would like to acknowledge the important contribution of Americans For a Safe Israel to increasing the understanding in the United States of Israel's positions. I would like to encourage the Jewish community and other friends of Israel to assist in the excellent work being done by this organization."
Yitzhak Shamir  Israel's former Prime Minister

        The Obama Wild Card

Jerusalem --The American  public’s support of Israel is miles wide, but save for its Jews and  a substantial number of  faith-based Evangelical Christians, it may be only inches deep.

The largely unrecognized danger inherent in  an Obama presidency is that a rhetorical virtuoso capable of raising masses of people to a state of near frenzied euphoria could dry up that shallow lake in a flash.  A frontal attack on Israel wouldn’t  be necessary to accomplish the task..  “President” Obama would merely have to convince the American people that the Jewish State’s policies – continued sovereignty over an undivided Jerusalem,  the retention of the Golan Heights and critical portions of Judea and Samaria, – were inimical to America’s  interests.  Given his forensic gifts , it might not take much convincing.  An  America mired in the worst economic recession in  70 years, unfinished wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and recurring  terrorist threats could come up notably short on further indulgence of Israel’s survival needs, perhaps even of a mind to blame Israel for some of its woes

Oslo – A Lesson that was Never Learnt

 New York: May 28, 2007

Herbert Zweibon, Chairman of Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI, applauds former Israeli Chief of Staff, Moshe Yaalon, who recently called for the destruction of the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.

The Oslo agreements signed in Washington on 13 September 1993 were aimed at ending all acts of hostility, both physical and verbal, between Israel and the Palestinians. The Israeli leaders at home presented the agreements in almost Messianic terms, pointing to the “historic reconciliation between the Palestinians and the Israelis.” It was clearly understood that the Palestinians would not only stop all acts of violence....Continued
